It's not every day you turn 16, and it's arguably even cooler when your mom is Madonna. The iconic pop star took to Instagram on Thursday to wish her son Rocco Richie a happy birthday with a series of photos and sweet messages showing us just how much her son has grown up—and it's giving us all the proud mom feels.

"Happy Birthday to my First Born Son," Madge began her first post, which shows Rocco (below, left) in Malawi holding a fur-coved shield. "A true Warrior with a beautiful Heart! Let the sun shine!"

The 57-year-old then took to Instagram to share a black-and-white throwback shot of herself, dressed in a plaid skirt and with her hair in ringlets, cradling a young Rocco who is clad in a shirt emblazoned with his name.

"Once my baby always my baby. Happy Sweet 16," she captioned the photo.

The "Rebel Heart" hitmaker's final post showed just how much Rocco has grown, with the legendary pop singer adding "Happy B-day Rocco!" text on top of a current image of her son on a skateboard as well as a photoshopped image of him when he was just a toddler.

They sure do grow up fast!
